Before settling here in the unique village of Srebarna in autumn 2005 to open Pelican Lake Guesthouse Environmental Project Centre we were fortunate enough to travel extensively.

We feel these 20 years of experience, visiting all corners of Europe, The Americas, Africa, India, S.E. Asia and Australasia, staying in 100’s of hotels, guesthouses, B&B, has been invaluable in helping us recognise and provide exactly what our guests require.

Jerry was a Retail Manager for many years and has worked in hospitality. Now her main job is to manage Pelican Lake Guesthouse and maintain our high accommodation standards.

She also teaches English locally and online and speaks Bulgarian fluently.

The garden is her passion and she loves to grow everything in as organic way as possible, providing all the fruit and vegetables for the guesthouse.

Mike worked for River Ocean Research and Education as an outdoor events organiser and was also a Community Care Development Manager.

He has been leading guided walks around Srebarna Reserve for over 7 years now and runs Pelican Lake Environmental Project Centre. He works closely with our partners  BSPB, Zeleni Balkani & The Bulgarian Academy of Science here in Bulgaria and also volunteers with Proact & CABS the Committee Against Bird Slaughter to protect and preserve wildlife all over the world.

Peggy

Originally rescued from Andalusia she has been with us for over 11 years.

She is a very friendly, quiet three legged Chinese Crested Powder Puff Terrier who loves everyone.

Her main job is to keep the birds and wildlife in the garden safe from other predators. Indeed the guesthouse would not be complete without her. She is now popular in her own right with guests returning just to visit her!
